Within the framework of a four-year demonstration project, measures for ecological intensification with the aim of enhancing functional biodiversity are to be implemented on a number of cooperating demonstration farms in pome fruit cultivation and accompanied scientifically. The goal is a validated chain of action, which will also be evaluated in terms of practicability and economic efficiency. Based on experiences and results from previous research projects, tools suitable for farms will be selected, their applicability will be tested, possible improvements of the measures will be developed and then implemented in such a way that the desired ecological enhancement and possible effects on pest control can be observed and demonstrated over several years.
