The aim of the project is to increase the importance of rapeseed cultivation in organic farming by investigating ways of increasing yields and stability. To this end, genetic resources are being used to expand the primary gene pool. Although rapeseed provides a nutritionally very valuable edible oil, its importance in organic farming is below average. This is due to the higher yield risk compared to conventional cultivation. Biotic and abiotic stressors, a long vegetation period and the high demands on nitrogen supply pose particular challenges in organic farming. The high demand for the nutritionally very valuable edible oil from organic farming can therefore not yet be adequately met, leading to a supply gap. The project aims to test the suitability for organic farming of offspring from high-yielding parents that have been crossed with non-adapted material (resynthesis lines). Theng material for the tests is heterogeneous stocks, evolutionary bulks that have developed over more than a decade and a half under organic cultivation conditions and have adapted to the cultivation methods. The objectives of this project can therefore be summarized as follows i) The expansion of the gene pool through the use of resynthesis linesand building on this ii) The investigation of nutrient efficiency iii) To improve drought tolerance by considering root characteristics
