To investigate the pesticide residues in bee matrices during strawberry blossom in Germany and Slovakia, comparisons of exposure of honey bees and bumble bees will be conducted. For this purpose, comparable samples of bees, pollen, bee bread, nectar, and beeswax are collected at several locations in Germany and Slovakia at comparable flowering stages using developed methodology. Thereafter, the sampels will be analyzed for pesticide residues using a multi-method. In this project, a comparison of the exposure of bee species through different matrices is being developed for the first time. The attractiveness of strawberry blossoms for honey bees and bumble bees will be also taken into account. Knowledge of the various agricultural practices and local exposure conditions can be derived from the data.
