Overall objective of the project

Measures to support functional biodiversity in pome fruit agriculture are being researched as part of a four-year demonstration project. Four to six cooperative demonstration farms in each of the North, South, West, and East areas are the sites of the investigations. The specific regional coordinators on the ground will carry out the actions. The JKI offers scientific support at the institutes OW, BI, and SF. The objective is to create a functional biodiversity-promoting chain of activity that has been validated and will be assessed for practicability and cost-effectiveness. Tools appropriate for the farm are selected, their applicability is tested, potential improvements to the developed measures are developed, and then these are combined with experience from prior projects or catalogs of measures developed in these projects.
