In the forest protection integrated pest management practices are of central importance. According to the basic principles of integrated forest protection preventive measures to stabilize the ecosystem, as site specific tree species, stand structure, stand tending, protection of beneficial insects etc. are preferable to corrective procedures of plant protection products. Within a project to short-rotation plantations possible combinations of silvicultural, biological, mechanical / technical and chemical measures should be examined for their practicality.
