Overall objective of the project

Innovations in digitization and genomics will be used to enable predictive breeding of resilient pea varieties with optimized traits for human nutrition. To achieve this, genomic tools for pea breeding will be developed and used to increase the resilience of peas to increased biotic and abiotic stress. Success factors for innovation and transfer will be identified and used via the establishment of a communication platform with relevant stakeholders of the pea value chain community, targeted cultivation trials and new digital tools for optimized crop management. Furthermore, a sustainable technology for protein extraction will be developed and used for the design of new alternative foods within the framework of DiPisum, thus ensuring the availability of raw materials in industrially promoted quality.
