Overall objective of the project

Sentless mayweed (MATIN) is an annual dicot weed species in temperate zones globally. So far, herbicide resistance is reported from seven European countries. In all cases, weed populations show resistance towards ALS inhibiting herbicides. A MATIN population showing reduced sensitivity to the very long chain inhibiting herbicide metazachlor, during a German herbicide resistance survey. In the present study, the reduced sensitivity to metazachlor in MATIN is characterized by plant physiological and molecular biological analyses and studies on the metazachlor metabolites.
